Kathy Swantko is a professional textile, apparel, and fashion consultant. She has more than 25 years of experience in the textile industry conducting sales training and product knowledge seminars, coordinating in-store promotional events, conducting market research studies, and writing.
Following a career as a buyer for major department stores, and assistant Director of Fashion promotion for Simplicity Pattern Company, Kathy moved to Los Angeles where she served as the West Coast retail-merchandising representative for Celanese and Hoechst Celanese Corporation.
She served as a contributing editor for Knitting Times Magazine, and is the West Coast correspondent for WTiN, publishers of Future Materials and Knitting International. Kathy also has an ongoing “University Education” column in Textile Insight magazine.
In 1995, Kathy launched the award-winning web site, FabricLink.com (FL), to provide unbiased education on fabrics, apparel, home furnishings, and care to retailers and consumers, and to create awareness and interest in manufacturers’ products. In May 2003, she launched TheTechnicalCenter.com (TTC), FL’s companion B2B website, created for the performance fabric industry to promote and find new product developments. Together, the two websites, known as the FabricLink Network, are the “go-to” resource for product developers, fashion designers, and researchers and for networking, marketing, and education.
