John Frazier, Nike’s Senior Director of Chemical Innovation, leads chemists and scientists focused on exploring innovative and sustainable materials and processes. The overall goal of Nike’s Sustainable Product Research and Discovery (SPR&D) team is to focus on the “north stars” of 1) infinitely available, 2) infinitely closed loop, and 3) greening the core (green chemistry).

Some of John’s duties at Nike have included the development, deployment, and oversight of a variety of sustainability and product stewardship programs including development and deployment of the Restricted Substance List (RSL) and Sustainable Chemistry Guidance; the Global Water Quality Program; and the Greener Chemistry Program.

John holds a BS in Chemistry from Northern Arizona University, and an MS in Chemistry from San Diego State University, and has more than 20 years of experience. Throughout his career, he and his teams have established and driven numerous chemistry and environmental programs. John has worked as a material and process engineer, a senior chemist, and a consultant to the aerospace, environmental, and athletic footwear/apparel/equipment industry.
