Harry Furukawa is the Director of Product Development, for the American Geophysics Union (AGU), a professional society of more than 62,000 Earth and space scientists. He designs programs and services to better serve stakeholders.
An organization architect, Harry designs and implements services and systems to help people innovate, learn, and accelerate performance improvement in order to create positive organizational change and sustainable organizational and environmental results. His skills include design thinking and innovation; developing and deploying organizational strategy and learning systems; creating customer engagement; aligning culture; and, improving organizational quality and performance.
Harry brings a solid track record of success in developing innovative strategies and working closely with stakeholders to convert those opportunities into programs/services in the non-profit, private, and government sectors. He has served as the Vice President for Learning and Quality (and Innovation) at Goodwill Industries International, Senior Director of Corporate Planning at the American Red Cross, Chief Learning Officer at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and Associate Director of the University of Maryland Center for Quality and Productivity.
Harry earned a BA in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Architecture from Harvard University, and an Executive MBA from Loyola College.
