Dr. Farahbakhsh has nearly 20 years of design, consulting and academic experience in Environmental Engineering addressing issues ranging from air pollution control, water, wastewater and stormwater management, soil and groundwater remediation, pollution prevention, resource recovery and energy from waste. Currently, Dr. Farahbakhsh’s research focuses on water reuse, energy generation from waste (microbial fuel cells, biological hydrogen generation, anaerobic digestion and pyrolysis), advanced water and wastewater technologies, Sustainability and the Second Law of Thermodynamics, appropriate technology and sustainable innovation. Dr. Farahbakhsh has published widely in refereed journals and his work has been featured in various national and international media including the Discovery Channel and the CNN.
